Local Amenities

Although Dairy Barn is “hidden away” in a beautifully rural and peaceful setting, it is only a short drive away from the well-known seaside towns of Ventnor, Shanklin and Sandown which offer a wide selection of individual shops, and excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs. Nearby is the Ventnor Golf Club, and the famous sailing resort of Cowes is within easy reach.

There are hundreds of miles of interesting walking routes across the Isle of Wight from which you can enjoy some of the most beautiful and stunning landscapes on offer. From rugged coastal walks over historic downland, diverse beaches, and enchanting forest trails, there is plenty to cater for all. The Dairy Barn is located on a 950-acre all grassland farm situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It is surrounded by St Martins Down, South Down and Wroxall Down and within a few hundred yards of the property access can be gained to miles of public footpaths and bridleways which cross the farm. Visit visitisleofwight.co.uk walking page to find out more.

There are also over 200 miles of cycle routes covering the Isle of Wight along quiet country lanes and scenic off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks on former railway lines catering for all abilities. There is a 2.5 mile cycle route which starts at St Johns Evangelis church in Wroxall and follows the disused railwy track to Shanklin. Visit the visitisleofwight.co.uk cycling page to find out more details of all the routes.

East Cowes Marina is the home of Crystal Spray, a 11.2m Cheetah catamaran powered by twin 200 Yamaha outboard engines, which can be hired for the day or just a few hours to visit the many sites on offer around the Island coastline. Visit www.isleofwightcharters.co.uk for further dtails or ask our Property Manager, Sally Richards.

For the more adventurous guest, there are Spitfire flying experiences run from nearby Sandown.

In all, the Isle of Wight has an abundance of activities and attractions to suit all ages and abilities. For more information on what the Island has to offer, please visit the Isle of Wight’s official tourism website www.visitisleofwight.co.uk.
